Vintage Photography Workshop Safari | Creative Edge

We had a great time photographing Alicia and Chris during our Vintage Workshop.  We start this workshop by going over lighting, composition and our photography plan for the day.  We also made sure we covered any questions, so everybody was very comfortable with their camera. I had two additional professional photographers with me, so there was always someone  close at hand to help with questions.  There is no better way to learn than by doing!! So we got started with the two professional models,  great locations and perfect weather.   Really there is not much more a photographer can ask for!!!! Everyone learns by shooting, plus having a great time, making friends and you can use the pictures you take on your website, blog or portfolio. Definitely a WIN-WIN for everyone!!

We were inside a building, so I had Alicia stand beside a large garage door.  I used the available light with a reflector to create the lighting, but also to add the great catch lights in her eyes.  Eyes are so important in a portrait, here they really draw you in.

The sun coming across the train created great texture, so I needed to match the lighting on Chris.  I used an off camera flash triggered with a radio slave to add this light into his face.

The late afternoon light is beautiful.  Here we are backlighting our models to create mood and texture.  We used a reflector to bounce light into her face. What a great workshop safari–Vintage has become a popular favorite!!!!
