We’re excited to be back after a summer hiatus for our workshops. They call it Hot-lanta for a reason, and this moniker for Georgia photographers is no joke. Though we’d love to be shooting year round, the heat poses a challenge to host outdoor photography workshops in June, July and August! Alas, we are back and have an amazing crop of photos to share with you from our Intro workshop, where we teach students how to shoot in manual mode. We had an amazing turnout which included 15 students and four models. The heat made it a challenge to work outside, however, we worked around it by shooting in the shade where it was cooler and a tad more comfortable!
In lieu of the awesome turn out of students, we decided it was best to have at least three models so we could offer alternative ‘sets’ during the hands-on portion. By choosing to do it this way, we avoided the issue of having 15 students competing to take photos of just a single subject. Having three or four models offered the students more room for movement, allowing them to have plenty of space to work a wide-range of angles.
Many of the students who attended the Intro Workshop enjoyed it so much they have already signed up for the Intermediate Workshop coming in September, where we will introduce how to use flash. If you are working with flash and want to learn more, or you are new to flash and want to learn how to use flash correctly, the Intermediate Workshop is for you!
The images seen below were shot by the instructors, all of which were captured in manual mode:
At each Intro to Photography workshop, we host a contest for the students. The photos below were shot in manual mode by some of the students from our August 21st Intro Class!
