Introduction to Photography Workshop Atlanta | Creative Edge

I enjoy working with photographers of every skill level.  The Intro to Photography class starts off at the studio going over the basics and making sure everybody understands how to shoot in manual mode on their camera. Also, we help check to make sure that everyone has his/her camera set up properly.  After that, we bring in  a model and we go on a  real “shoot”; photographing them in all types of lighting conditions.  I am firm believer– you learn by doing. The first few pictures of our model Lindsey were on the original day of the workshop, but as soon as we started the sky got black and before we knew what hit us —it was hailing!!  So….. obviously the class got rescheduled.  We gathered again starting at the studio, but then went on location to end the workshop with some cool lighting opportunities.  What we do not do is have a model as a human mannequin for lighting demonstrations.  We have great models and find great locations and do a fun shoots at ALL of our workshops!!!!

YES….. the skies started getting dark and it started to rain, but instead of running for cover, I got Lindsey to pose with our prop– a red umbrella!!!!! When it started to hail, believe me we were all scurring for some serious shelter…………..

My motto is—- when in doubt back-light your model.  Here, we put the sun behind Lindsey and used a reflector to add light into her face.

Now for the super cool lighting…… using a high ISO to pull in the ambient lighting, we added Lindsey into the shot and used a portable video light to light up her face.

I loved the lighting on the floor, so I had Lindsey lay on the floor to create this cool shot of her.  A WONDERFUL workshop despite the weather hazards……..!!!
