Photography for Beginners | June 7th

Taking the time to switch your camera from Auto mode to Manual Mode can be a daunting! But here at Creative Edge Photography Workshops, we work with you so you can feel confident using Manual Mode. Learning how the ISO, Fstop and Shutter Speed work together is the first step. So we begin our workshops in the classroom. Instead of reading from a book, we help set up your camera, go through all the settings we use on a regular basis (there are many different tools on your camera, but to not overwhelm you we keep it simple). Then, we take you outside with a few models and help you practice on Manual Mode. We keep our lighting situations simple and not complicated so you can focus on the camera settings. At every Intro Photography workshop, we host an in-house contest. We ask students to submit their images for three reasons. First, when students submit images, we can access their images metadata and give feedback on their images. Second, we send all the images to the models! They love seeing your work! And Finally, the contest! One lucky student with the best eye and spot-on skills receives a free photography workshop on us!

Jarred! Congratulations man! You’ve won a free workshop! We are very impressed by your skills at such a young age. You were not afraid to get creative, get low, tilt the camera. You got some awesome stuff and you’re just setting out! We can’t wait to see what you bring to the next workshop! Keep up the good work!

Michelle! Lady, fine! You’ve got some killer composition happening. Your images are sharp as tacks, too. Which from experience is always the last thing on a student’s mind who is new to AMnual Mode. Excellent work!

We also have great images from Julie!  Julie has almost got this Manual Mode thing figured out. On the whole most of the images you submitted had great exposure, nice composition and were in focus. Way to go! I’m so impressed by the depth of field happening in the last photo of Jessie. Nice job!

And our last runner up for the day, get s a shout out for creativity! Mr. Brent! Nice job! We are LOVING the way you view the world. Shooting around corners and through the leaves, do NOT let that creativity die. You’ve got an amazing eye, we just need to focus on your exposure just a little more, but then you will be unstoppable!
