We love a great start to a new year! Our first introduction to photography workshop starting with a bang! The weather was FREEZING but that did not keep our models from showing up, dressed sharp, and our students from exploring a new side to photography! We are so excited to start the year with this class. When we have enough students submit images, we hold a contest! The winner gets a free workshop of choice, on the house! This class we congratulate Doug! Doug pushed the limit when classifying him as a beginner. During one of the sets, he shot through the branches, got a correct exposure, AND a tact sharp image. That’s pretty challenging to do when it’s your first time working in Manual Mode! This is the image that won Doug a free Creative Edge Workshop!
This next image is also Doug’s. I wanted to share it because, he was going for the same idea, shooting through obstacles, but was less successful. Oh his exposure is good, the image is clear and sharp, but the image below is not as powerful as the image above. I’m a visual person, so it helps me to compare. This is one of his runner up images. But the one above has even the perfect model expression.
Doug was not the only one to submit killer images. Below we have an image submitted by Smita. We are LOVING how clear everything is in this image. The color balance is beautiful, and the whole image has a good exposure (we looked at her settings, and they were well done!) My favorite part of this image is how sharp it is. Smita was using a nice lens that let her get everything important in focus, from counting the number of eyelashes to noticing the creases in her lips. If you shutter speed is too slow, or your aperture too low, parts of the face can be blurry or out of focus, well done, Smita!
Another runner up was Ganesh. The two images below are well exposed, well composed images. The model is striking with the chosen depth of field. And Ganesh even took things a little further adding a little sunflare to his last image. Sun flare can be tricky, but I think the image below has a beautiful amount! Great job!
