It feels like ages since we’ve had a Beginners Photography Class, but really it’s only been a month and a half. We’ve had other workshops since the last beginners class, so here we are back at the beginning. When you come to our Intro to Photography Hands On Workshop, you leave with a new foundation and appreciation for photography. We begin in a classroom setting going over definitions and the technical things you need to know to get a good Exposure. We focus on the different combinations of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed to achieve the look you want in a photograph. After your camera’s are set up and all the definitions have been explain we take you out into a real photo excursion! As you see below, we bring in models and explore the grounds of Barrington Hall setting up scenes all while helping you get the correct exposure in your camera.
The more you shoot, the more you learn. After you feel comfortable with your exposure we invite you to get creative! Use low angles, high angles to achieve your look. Use a high Fstop or a low fstop for that perfect blurred out image. Here are a few more images from the instructors from the day. We had a great time with our four female models. They absolutely killed it with outfits, poses.
And without further ado, we have to announce our free workshop winner! The students at this beginners photography workshop hit it out of the park. Seriously, it was quite a challenge to choose just one winner. But we managed and we’re very excited! But first, a couple honorable mentions 🙂
Doug! You did a great job with framing and exposure. She’s slightly out of focus, so watch out for slow shutter speeds.
Hope! Girl, this is great! We love the angle, the framing, the colors, it’s a good image! (disregard the pixel-ness, it was sent at low resolution but we know a great image when we see one!)
In order to have a winner, you have to have a runner up.Dear Holly, that’s you! The images below are just gorgeous! You have perfect exposure, beautiful composition, the important things are tact sharp, overall absolutely great work!
You know what’s great about digital photography? The freedom! You can shoot 100 pictures in a few minutes and have each of them be completely different.
Congratulations to Latricia! You’ve won a free photography workshop!
The images below show a full range of talent. Each image speaks something different, from the different model poses, to your variety of angles. We love how your exposure choices of a low depth of field make magic happen with the backgrounds of these images. The first image below is the one we choose as the winning image, but we wanted to include some more of your images below to show the variety of creative images you submitted.
Really, a huge great job needs to go out to all the students. Everyone brought their A-game and showed us how much they learned through their photographs. We hope everyone comes back for the Intermediate Class in September!
