Our second official workshop at the historic home of Barrington Hall. I must say it’s so nice there! The grounds are always so well-kept, it’s like our little secret! Except, it’s not a secret! The workshop started with a high chance of rain, but with our workshops sold out, we have to do them rain or shine! Luckily the rain passed right over and from 2-5 we had exceptional weather! A little hot, extremely humid, but nonetheless, good weather for taking pictures! After the class room session we went outside to begin the hands on version! Every Intro I class we have an in-house contest for a free photography workshop! After the class, everyone submits pictures, and one lucky student wins a free Creative Edge Workshop! What you didn’t know is that this workshop is different! We have TWO students to win a free workshop! And it’s GRAND!  TRE_3903TRE_3912TRE_3945TRE_3947TRE_3953

Good job getting low and getting creative! We can’t stress that enough! After you know what you’re doing with the exposures, time to play up the creativity, after all- that’s what sets you apart from other photographers!

Now let’s get to business!!! These are your winning images from the Aug 24th class!

First we have Leslie! Awesome job of framing and getting low! We love the effort you took in post processing too. But Leslie sent in several images that nailed the proper exposure. We look at that first when judging for the contest. Past that we look at creativity. We love this angle the Keila,it’s a great posed photo.

Another image Leslie sent in is the one below of Joy. We LOVE this picture of Joy. Leslie did a great job on the exposure, but she also captured an adorable and stunning moment of Joy. Joy’s not posed, or looking at the camera; Leslie caught a candid moment that clients are often looking for.

Our SECOND winner is Michael. Way to go man. We are obsessed with your graphic view of the world. Your vision seems to attract design elements, you had great exposure and sharpness as well! But what stood out to us was your willingness to bend the rules to get a more linear and creative image! The two images below of Celine and Keila are awesome!

If you had a program like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom, you could easily fix the small distortion of the building. Pulling the top right corner up and forward, to get the building completely squared off. I would suggest keeping the window in there though! It’s so awesome, and begins to tell a story of Keila and the setting she’s in.

The remaining images are awesome runner-ups! We’re so excited when nearly everyone participates in the contest!

Dawn, you also did a great job with telling a story by including Celine’s surroundings into the image.

A lot of images of Doug were submitted, all very similar to one another, but I love this one. Melissa great exposure! And that’s hard considering Doug’s very BLACK suit against the very WHITE columns of Barrington Hall. But you did a great job of keeping detail in both areas. Not to mention his eyes and glasses are sharp and in focus. I think the reason this picture stood out at me so much was about the composition. He seems such in a position of power, you have the window shutters and lamps flanking the wall in symmetry. The green of the shutters just makes Doug’s eyes really pop! Great Job!

Hold the phone! Stop the motion! It’s hard to do! And you did an EXCELLENT job, Norayi! Celine was in BRIGHT sun, and you nailed the exposure! You got an adorable expression on her face! This picture is so fun, so well exposed! Great Job!
