What a beautiful day April 6th turned out to be! After we frantically changed the time of the workshop to a couple hours earlier, the rain held off and we were able to host another wonderful Intro to Photography Workshop! All of the students showed up at the right time! We started with an hour in the classroom, learning about how to use your dSLR’s on Manual Mode. Then we head outside and put everything you’ve learned into action! We had two great models, Nikki and Kevoni! With every Intro and Intro II workshop we host an in-house contest! Everyone in attendance is invited to submit their pictures after the workshop to be eligible to win a FREE Photography Workshop! We always have great submissions!

The April 6th Workshop winner goes to Michelle!! Congratulations! Below is the winning photograph! It won because we throw many different lighting situations at our intro students. We like to challenge everyone, shooting in every natural light situation from harsh sun to low lighting. This photograph was taken in extreme low light, but Michelle was able to keep Kevoni in focus, and adjust for such low light. She submitted this image in both the original color and after turning it black and white. We’re sharing the black and white image with you because we believe it is truly beautiful!

Lovely off centered subject.

Love the line of sight and lead in of the tree. The image is well exposed and has great movement.

This next image is one of the runner up students! We LOVE the forced perspective. Such a unique angle! It’s not too often you see students getting on the ground, laying on their stomachs to get a shot they see. Great Creativity, Barbie!

Dreama submitted the great picture below! We love the off angle, off centered look. Nikki’s horizontal stripes on her sweater with the contrast of the vertical stripes of the background make this image very pleasing to the eye!

Last runner up is Jim’s moody and dramatic black and white of Kevoni. Again, mastering low light situations is very difficult. Jim took the time to explore the barn and the scene we set up to get this unique angle. He walked around to the side to get a beautiful profile light of Kevoni.
