This client has set up several private workshops and each one has had a different customized focus. This particular one- on-one workshop was working with a model in outdoor nature settings. Our model Leah was great!! We roamed around and found several amazing locations. We also used a wide variety of different and varied lighting situations. We photographed her with available light and reflectors, we used some off camera lighting, we used video light and also shot from a tripod– to blur the water of waterfall but keeping her in sharp focus. It was fun times!
Found this cool old wall…… so we added Leah and use a reflector to bounce in the light and add the great catch light into her eyes.See how the catch lights draw you into the shots. The eyes are so important in a portrait. This time we used an off camera light because there was not any light available to bounce with a reflector . Without additional lighting, this shot would be flat and dull.I am having her look up toward the open sky, no need for any reflectors here because we are using the sky to light her face.Shooting for a tripod at 1/8 shutter speed blurred the waterfall to it would show motion of the water. People can hold still during slow shutter speeds.
