We had a blast at this workshop! This is what I love to do!!! We walked around historical Marietta and found cool alleyways, textures and anything that just drew us in. We put our models in these spectacular spaces, while adding great lighting — SIMPLY not the same without extra lighting!!! Just look at the images that follow and imagine the shot without any extra lighting, many would be dull and flat. I love available light, but when you do not have light to bounce into a picture, or if there is not any beautiful light to streak across the shot, or to backlight your model, then you have to make the light –so this is what this workshop was all about!!!!
Using a flash with a soft box and having it off camera, while blending it with the ambient light, created the image above. I loved the textures of the wood and the old brick!
We heard the train coming, so we ran down by the track and shot these images with a slow shutter speed to capture the motion of the train. Being able to think on your feet and react with something happens is essential to capturing the very essence of the moment!! So, with no time to spare we got some great UN-planned images..Shot with a video light directed on Leah at this old loading dock……………..wonderful!!Loved the yellow wall with all of it’s texture…………………used an off camera light shot through a white umbrella……….!!
I love shooting about 30 minutes after sunset. I set my white balance to tungsten to create the dramatic blue and use the LED video light with a tungsten gel to create these images.
