January 11 | Intro Photography Workshop Winner!

As we ring in the new year we being our new Photography workshop calendar! This year we’re trying to do at least one Intro to Photography Workshop and one intermediate photography workshop a month. Since January is the month right after a season of gift giving, we decided to have two Intro I classes! This is the first one, and I must say you guys did an amazing job! We were able to narrow down the favorites to two people, but choosing from there was quite difficult. The winner ended up being someone who had more than one image in the favorites selection, which showed a consistent improvement in photography. I love it when students submit a picture from the beginning of the class alongside an image from the end of the class, the difference is always astounding! It just goes to show what a difference learning hands on can make! At first you’re trying to remember all the ‘rules’ and by the end you’re ‘feeling’ the light and everything starts to come together! At least that’s what we hope for our students!

Without further ado, January 11th Intro to Photography’s winning student!! Congratulations Steve!! Steve, you did a great job with many of the subjects we taught! In the first image, you had wonderful composition.

Then you captured this cute moment with decent exposure and awesome framing in this second image.

Then, you traveled around the barn to get a different point of view, and properly exposure this beautiful low light mood. The lighting on her face is very beautiful

Lastly, you have a great beginning understanding of depth of field! She’s nearly all in focus while the background has a nice blurred out effect!

Our runner up was Mya!! Mya had great exposure and lighting on this first image, captured an adorable moment between brother and sister in the second and third images.
