Intoduction to photography workshop Atlanta | Creative Edge

We had a great class at our November Intro workshop!  All of our Intro Workshops start off at our studio so we can help everybody get the most out of their cameras. We want you to understand the setting, composition,  and the difference  lenses will make ……. and of course lighting.  Lighting makes such a difference!!  Knowing how to use the light you have and how to make light, it if you do not have it. readily available.  When students come to our workshops, they gain a great understanding of their camera AND come away with some of the best images they have ever taken.  Our models sign releases, so any shots you take at a workshop you can use on your blog, facebook, website or in a portfolio.Do not be afraid of direct sunlight, if you use it right you can shape your subjects face and add punch to the shot. Keep in mind when we shoot with direct sun– it is either early morning or later in the day  — not at noon! The picture on the left is with the sun behind her and a reflector to bounce light back into her face which not only illuminates her face, but adds great catch lights.  The picture on the right, I have her looking toward the open sky to direct the nice wrap around light. There was this one tree with beautiful yellow color left from the fall, so we used it for these images.  Since our background around us was trees without leaves, we shot down to eliminate a bad background. I have to also mention that our model Leah was great! Can you believe she just turned 13 the month before?  Unbelievable! All we are doing in these images is metering for the sky –to get a great exposure of the sky– so our models would become a silhouette.
